South Cumbria Holiday Cottages is a small holiday cottage company based around the very beautiful and unspoilt Lake District National Park, offering a range of beautiful cottages in a variety of tranquil settings, combined with a friendly and personable work ethic and attention to detail in all that we do to provide outstanding holidays and breaks for our guests.
We offer holiday cottages for rental in Haverigg and Silecroft over on the west Cumbrian coast, passing through Thwaites, into the sublime Duddon Valley, onto the village of Broughton in Furness in the South Lakes, and as far as Gawthwaite, all truly hidden treasures of the Cumbrian western lake district.

Just a short drive in any direction will lead you to valleys, lakes, fells, coast or town - in the Duddon Valley, Old Travellers Rest makes an excellent choice for those wishing to walk Scafell Pike.

Try the quaint, quintessentially English village of Broughton in Furness - boasting good pubs to eat and drink in, an amazing butcher and greengrocer and lovely bakery all on the doorstep. Coniston is the nearest lake, a very scenic 30 minute drive through Torver, pick up the central Lakes, Windermere and Ambleside easily. You'll find Copper Rigg here, with Slapestones about a mile out of the village in a slightly more rural and elevated position.
Gawthwaite, just up the hill out of Broughton in Furness towards Ulverston brings you to Lakenhow, elevated and majestic, surrounded by its own stunning views.

Slapestones, a bespoke and newly renovated four bedroomed family home sleeping eight guests, is available as an outstanding holiday cottage for rent.
Well appointed, Slapestones is situated between Broughton and Thwaites, bordering the Lake District National Park.
Slapestones, benefits from enough parking easily for four cars, mature gardens to three sides, a wooded area and an elevated rural outlook above the beautiful Duddon Estuary in south Cumbria.
Old Traveller's Rest - Sleeps 5
Our "Beautiful Apartment" - Old Traveller's Rest - located in Ulpha, in the stunning Duddon Valley, provides very tastefully and recently renovated ground floor accommodation, ideal for those of limited mobility.
Generously proportioned, particularly the lounge and dining area, Old Traveller's Rest welcomes groups and families of up to five guests.
Nestling at the bottom of Birker Fell in Ulpha, and about half way into the Duddon Valley - Old Traveller's Rest has the best of all worlds - guests are in walking distance of the well stocked local post office and walks from the door, and also a short ride over Birker Fell, with its magnificent views beckons, and takes you down to Eskdale, the next valley over - very scenic, not to be missed.

This lovingly restored cottage has a unique charm all of its own.
Riverside Cottage, nestling next to the River Duddon in the Duddon Valley, helps you understand clearly the magic that William Wordsworth saw, and why he was compelled to write such beautiful poetry about the valley.
The Newfield Inn, the local pub steeped in history, is a very scenic walk away of about a country mile.
Choose a view from the window seats towards Caw Fell and The Old Man of Coniston. Or the view from the garden towards Stickle Pike and to the fells across the river. You can see Wallabarra Crag from the slate garden. Listen to the river, which can be heard from the kitchen, the bathroom and of course the garden. Duddon View - Sleeps 4
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the tranquil and calm Duddon Valley, Duddon View Cottage, as its name suggests, nestles snuggle at the foot of the Duddon River, beloved of Wordsworth and providing plentiful inspiration for his work and writings. There are a few neighbours at Duddon View, but more sheep than people to be frank. People and their possessions are very safe in the area and everyone you come across will offer a friendly greeting to visitors.
Duddon View delivers everything we can think of – a rolling river nearby, majestic fells/mountains to all sides, Duddon View is a most traditional Cumbrian Cottage, with a fabulous log burner, an enclosed courtyard, and yet lovingly restored, Laura Ashley style, to a very comfortable, indeed bespoke standard. Relaxation is guaranteed, there really is a place where you can go back in time and rest awhile.

3 St Lukes offers exceptional value for money in the shape of a large spacious end terraced property, where a family of up to four can spread out and relax.
Take a walk to the sea in five minutes, play on the sand, walk the beach wall, and pass a couple of good pubs (and a chip shop!) on the way home!
Not forgetting there's a couple of lovely places to purchase ice-cream, Riva Gelato on the Harbour Lights Campsite, and the ice cream van often to be found on the beach front at Haverigg - there's a good beach cafe at Haverigg too!
All in all 3 St Lukes is very lovely and highly recommended, completely family and pet friendly accommodation.

Combe Cottage - Sleeps 4
What can we tell you in recommendation of Combe Cottage?
Sleeping 4 guests, if you want some well earned rest and relaxation in a picture postcard village, with minimum people and lots of peace and quiet, and with plenty to do should you wish within touching distance, then Combe Cottage would make an excellent choice.
Well, in fact, within touching distance is The Miners Arms, about one minutes walk away! Good food, good beer and good local hospitality on the doorstep. Silecroft railway station is about a three minute walk away, handy for a train ride up the west coast or a great shopping trip to Carlisle.
About a twenty minute amble away down the road will see you arrive at one of the loveliest beaches along the western coast of Cumbria – Silecroft beach – miles of sandy beach in either direction, a beautiful ocean with waves crashing on the shore, few people, and a great beach café.

Located down a private farm track within the stunning Lake District National Park, The Hayloft, a lovingly constructed barn conversion studio apartment is a hidden treasure awaiting discovery.
Sitting in an elevated position boasting the most stunning views from every direction - and a hot tub!

Sharing the same stunning views from every direction! Usually the hot tub is also shared, and although that is still safe to do according to our guidelines, we have for the present moment allocated the hot tub just to The Hayloft.
Another stylish mix of modern and traditional within The Byre, and the result is a very comfortable spot for two. Romantic, secluded, close to local amenities and yet a private world just for two, offering peaceful relaxation.
