What can we say about Riverside Cottage?
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it ticks every box we can think of - a rolling river nearby, majestic fells to all sides, a most traditional Cumbrian Cottage, with a fabulous log burner, many original features, and yet restored to a bespoke standard with all our modern day conveniences.
In other words, Riverside Cottage is the perfect location in which to relax and enjoy all it and the surrounding outstandingly beautiful area has to offer you.
Why not take a walk to the local pub, The Newfield Inn? Steeped in history, with its original slate floor, it's only about a miles walk away down the road which is flat and very suitable for push chairs and those who like a relaxed amble with stunning scenery to all sides. Or you could go via Wallabarra, a little longer through woods and by the river, but equally as beautiful. If you are strolling in the evening, remember a torch, it gets quite dark out in the countryside!
The lounge at Riverside Cottage boasts a super size log burner to keep you very cosy and warm in the winter months.
The view from the lounge window seat looks towards Caw Fell and The Old Man of Coniston. You will notice the original slate floor is still there, looking every bit as good as it did originally, although we think it could tell a good few stories of life over the years.
You can spot the wooden door in the picture. Behind here lies a large storage room, suitable for bikes which may be stored in here. The landscape provides for many great mountain bike routes within the valley, and you will often see groups of bikers training within the terrain of the valley. There are also lots of gentler cycle routes too both around the valley and across the South Lakes for keen cyclists to enjoy.
Look out for the beam from Cartmel Priory in Riverside's kitchen.
Thoughtfully refurbished, everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided here for you.
Riverside Cottage has its own water bore hole and its own water treatment plant, and is therefore very eco-aware.
All the eco-friendly products you may need in the kitchen - washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and laundry detergent are supplied for your stay.
More of the Kitchen
Just out of view at the end of Riverside's kitchen lie two easy chairs and a little table.
A great vantage point to settle down with a cup of tea, a good book, or simply to find that time to stop and stare and marvel at the amazing scenery before you.
The colours change with the seasons and we really recommend that you see the colours wakening up in the spring, and then the rich coppers and golds which sweep in with the autumn.
Whatever the season, it's a truly sensational view, and we think you'll be hooked.
There's lots of light comes in to Riverside Cottage and we think the dining room is perfectly situated to catch this light!
A delightful room to eat in, notice the traditional wooden floor, in sharp contrast to the slate.
There's a lovely view from the table and chairs at Riverside across traditional stone Cumbrian walls and fields.
Riverside Cottage is the best of all worlds!
Another view of Riverside's kitchen and diner emphasising the ceiling beams and the open plan design of the cottage.
Accommodating four guests very comfortably indeed, we think Riverside Cottage is everything you could wish for in a really relaxing country break, away from it all, a time out. You'll go home feeling refreshed, we can guarantee it!
A closer view of all the books available to guests at Riverside Cottage. There's quite a few - a myriad of different themes, along with a good selection of children's books too.
There is also a cupboard in the lounge which houses lots of videos for guests to watch, along with games for both children and adults to play, and numerous sets of cards!
A View of the Porch

This photograph gives you an impression of the property from the rear, and an idea as to the size of the garden.
Can you spot those two comfy chairs nestling just inside the porch doors?

The stairs are in two sections, the first section leads to a small landing with the main family bathroom just off here.
Then its a few more steps up to the shower room, and the two bedrooms on the top floor.
An outstanding and luxurious bathroom. Beautifully decorated in soft pastel shades, with a truly stylish bathroom suite.
Riverside's family bathroom is a real treat, sink into the luxurious bath after an enjoyable days walking or cycling.
Like the plaque on the wall advises, it really doesn't get better than this!
The first of the two Riverside Cottage bedrooms, decorated in rich mauve and lavender tones, with contrasting crisp white bedding.
A comfy king size bed, premier hotel quality sumptious duvets and fabulous pillows to sink your head into.
This bedroom provides all you need for a very restorative nights sleep, absolute peace and tranquility.
Just at the top of the stairs at Riverside Cottage you will find the shower room.
A powerful shower in a walk in cubicle is available along with a second toilet and wash basin.
Ultra modern, with tasteful decor.
We absolutely love this shabby chic designed twin bedded bedroom at Riverside Cottage.
White furniture against Laura Ashley blues, the crisp white bed linen again on wide single beds, combined with duck egg valances, plush beige carpet, we could go on, but needless to say, this is a very well appointed bedroom.
The two large single beds can be adapted to make one superking bed for this room at Riverside Cottage, which gives guests more flexibility as to the bed choices they have.
So as guests, you are able to request a king bedroom and two singles, or a king and a superking.
A View from the Garden
Here are some of the views looking across from the porch at Riverside Cottage.
The bench provides a lovely sitting point for a picnic or a cup of tea, and a lovely opportunity to sit and admire the panarama of fells and colours which surround Riverside Cottage, all whilst listening to the sound of the river running by.
