Old Travellers' Rest, located as it is half way into an elevated position in the beautiful Duddon valley, is a very comfortable rural holiday home offering all the modern comforts and yet also gives a nod to the traditional Cumbrian - beautiful wooden doors with traditional latches and slate flooring .
A ground floor apartment, Old Travellers' Rest offers very spacious family accommodation all on one floor, so is suitable for guests with moderate mobility issues.
Sleeping four, the Old Travellers' Rest offers additional flexibility in that the main bedroom can provide a king size bed or two twin beds as well as the bunk bedded room.
On returning to Old Travellers' Rest from your excursions, why not leave your outdoor gear in the handy porch, enjoy a hot shower or bath and then stretch out on the leather sofa.
In the warmer months, eating outside at the picnic table surrounded by trees and birdsong is a real treat. Old Travellers' Rest sits in its own grounds surrounded by nature and is a really peaceful spot from which to admire nature and gaze upon the fells.

There is plenty of information at Old Travellers' Rest about walking in the area - there are a plentiful amount of walks straight from the door and printed walk instructions can be found to assist guests in the Visitor's Manual, so that they can make the most of the scenic walking routes which the Duddon Valley has to offer.

The Dining Table
The dining table at Old Travellers' Rest is a real big affair! Perfect for laying those maps and activity leaflets out and planning the day's activities in a most convivial and sociable atmosphere!
Old Travellers' Rest dining table is also positioned very handily by the windows so even if the weather is not permitting you to eat al fresco, the light floods in and guests can certainly still take advantage of and enjoy the views and the plethora of visiting birds!
Within walking distance is Ulpha Post Office - a small shop with a seemingly endless supply of items you could need. If the only walk you take is down to the post office you will be very pleasantly surprised by the range of groceries, cards, gifts, newspapers, and services the post office offers - including cash withdrawals from most current bank accounts.

A large three piece brown leather suite is a treat to sink into, along with a foot stool to soothe tired feet. Beautifully crafted pine furniture complements the sofas rich colour.
A plush thick rug, in citrus colours, makes for a luxurious centrepiece and comfort underfoot while padding around.
Sky TV is available and there are a selection of DVD's books and games for guests entertainment.
The kitchen at Old Travellers' Rest is a light and cheerful affair.
White units complimented with wooden look worktops, this kitchen has a modern fresh feel to it, and you may notice - there is a great view of the grounds from every single window at Old Travellers' Rest!

The King Bedroom
Situated right at the back of the holiday home, the Old Travellers' Rest bedroom, with it's king size bed (or two singles) is decorated in beige and blues, and has a really relaxing feel to it.
Again, there are views of all the greenery surrounding Old Travellers' Rest from the large bedroom window, and the solid pine furniture theme carries on throughout the whole of the home.

The picture also gives you a flavour of the bedroom furniture - the wardrobe, drawers and easy chair available for guests comfort at Old Travellers' Rest, as well as things hidden in the drawers - such as the hairdryer and blankets for extra snuggle factor on those winter nights!
The Bunk Bedded Room
This is a great little bedroom at Old Travellers' Rest - very cosy but with everything in it that the larger bedroom has!
Ideal for children, or the climbers amongst us, who don't mind an elevated sleeping position!
There are mobile LED lights provided at Old Travellers' Rest, as when it does go dark in the Duddon Valley, it really does go very dark!
This is a great opportunity to really see the skies and stars above Cumbria, but we realise a little light close to hand can be helpful, as most guests are used to a little more night time illumination.
We think once you have adjusted to the darker nights at Old Travellers' Rest, they really are just the ticket for a most excellent night's sleep.
A large, modern, white family sized bathroom suite awaits at Old Travellers' Rest.
There are a couple of options for guests, a choice of taking a soak in a full sized bath, or jumping in to the separate shower cubicle for a refreshing shower.
Old Traveller's Rest is supplied by a private water supply which is filtered for guests.
Parking at Old Travellers' Rest
The one feature of Old Travellers' Rest that guests seem to enjoy the most - easy and free parking in plentiful supply with no hassle!
Leave the car safely if you want to go off walking from the door for the day.

A View from The Field
Last but by no means least, a view of Old Travellers' Rest from the fell opposite.
If you look at the long white building,Old Travellers' Rest is the slightly lower one in height at the back of the main larger white residence.
This picture, taken in autumn, conveys both the rural nature of Old Travellers' Rest, and also the fact that it is easily accessible from the main road through the Duddon Valley.
