Bank End Cottage #01

Bank End Cottage

Bank End Cottage is truly another gem of a holiday home.

Sleeping five, Bank End has everything you need for a most relaxing holiday - set in its own grounds, with comfortable furnishings throughout, and very traditionally Cumbrian with some of the original beams seen throughout the home.

“I stayed at Bank End Cottage for a weekend away with the girls, and it was a definite success. The cottage is tastefully decorated, authentic, warm, comfortable, and we found the kitchen was extremely well-equipped with everything you could possibly need. The house has a lovely big garden and nice patio area which we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy the sun on. In terms of location the cottage was also great, lots of lovely places to go within a short drive including the coast, lots of public footpaths, Muncaster Castle, Grizedale forest, Coniston Water etc. Would definitely go back to this cottage and would recommend to groups of friends, families or even couples wanting a bit of extra space.”

Dogs Welcome

Bank End Cottage welcomes well behaved dogs, and what better place for them to be than this charming (and cosy in the winter!) detached cottage.

Bank End is nestled literally just on the edge of the Duddon Valley in the Lake District National Park, and about a mile from Broughton in Furness.

Bank End is ideal for any type of break, a chance to really get away from it all, and we think you'll be impressed to find the cottage is located very close to local amenities, and yet just far enough away from them for you to feel secure in your own private sanctuary.

Bank End Lounge

You can easily spot the beams at Bank End! The lounge boasts very comfortable sofas you can sink into, complimented with tasteful soft furnishings.

Large windows throughout the downstairs allow in both the light and the beautiful views of the gardens and surrounding fells. Its simply impossible not to relax.

All in all, we think you'll agree, the character and charm of the cottage shines through, and Bank End is the type of cottage that could well become a habit with our guests.

The Picture Window

This photograph taken from a different angle within Bank End lounge we hope gives you an impression of the size of this perfect viewpoint from the lounge window.

Recline on it's comfortable padded window seat and take in the surrounding gardens and views over the fields in what we think is one of the most scenic and beautiful areas of the Lake District.

Bank End Kitchen

Bank End has a modern fitted kitchen with all that guests need having been thoughtfully provided.

Well equipped with fine crockery, there are additional touches too which we think you'll like including a plethora of leaflets and information on where to go and what to do.

A barbecue is provided for use on the patio area for al fresco dining in the summertime.

Of course there's Wi-Fi!

Bank End Kitchen

This picture, taken looking towards the dining room, gives an idea of the spaciousness of Bank End's kitchen, plenty of room for family and friends to cook together.

In order to stock this kitchen, five minutes’ drive away is the charming village of Broughton-in-Furness – where you can find an award winning bakery, a high class grocer and an excellent butcher - very fresh, tasty, local ingredients for food.

“Bank End cottage was once my fathers family home (in the 30’s) and I visited it many times as a child, the cottage has been beautify renovated and contains everything a family or couple could want. We were visiting from Australia where we have lived for over 33 years, the cottage is in our view perfectly placed for visiting the Lakes and has plenty of walks close by. Broughton in Furness a mile away is a beautiful country village with shops, cafes and pubs.” - Keith Knipe, Adelaide, Australia

Bank End Dining Room

Bank End's dining room is simply lovely. The beams are a feature again, the table seats six comfortably, the windows are huge, and a door leads out to the garden and the patio area where you can enjoy eating al fresco in the warmer weather, and you are not overlooked at all.

A barbeque is thoughtfully provided for guest use, along with some garden furniture and quite a large outside table. You'll even find a spare tablecloth for the outdoors in the cupboard!

This photograph, taken looking through the hatch which you can see in the picture above, gives you an impression of the picture windows in this room.

Two large comfy chairs look out over Bank End's gardens, and we recommend this spot as particularly relaxing for sitting with a cuppa and a book .

All of Bank End's bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed. All have exposed beams and their own quirky charm, you will be hard pressed to pick a favourite!

Bank End's master bedroom is decorated tastefully with mahogany furniture, the bed linen and duvet are simply luxurious and a restful night's sleep is guaranteed.

Bank End's Double Bedroom

Beautiful Egyptian Cotton bed linen compliments Bank End's double room.

Quite a different look to this room, it boasts beams to both the ceiling and wall.

We think its an enchanting bedroom, very authentically Cumbrian, and very comfortable.

Bank End's Single Bedroom

Similarly beamed, Bank End's single bedroom is a very pretty space, with citrus coloured soft furnishings.

There is also an additional put-up bed in this room available in case there is an extra small child travelling with the party, in which case the cottage would be able to accommodate six guests.

Bank End Gardens

Bank End's gardens are extremely beautiful, whether its January and the proliferation of snowdrops are out, or May when the trees are coming in bloom, there is something to enjoy every month of the year.

The mature planted gardens are quite stunning. This view is taken from the patio area which is just outside the dining room door.

More of The Gardens

We couldn't resist sneaking in another Bank End garden picture!

Looking down the garden this time from the patio area, the gardens themselves extend quite a long way back.

We recommend guests take a trip into the Duddon Valley - more beautiful and quite stunning scenery awaits, literally at the top of the hill!
